sis. covey leaving ireland and scotland after 18 months missionary service---arriving in Utah on Sept. 24th!

hey there,

how are you wonderful human beings??!

this past week was a prosperous one. we didn't do much finding or chapping as we had our good investigators to teach - oh how nice it is to have appointments! - but we did stop some good people who were prepared to hear the gospel. we ran into some funny people as well that lightens up our day with their weird perspectives. we spoke to a man on the street that told us he doesn't mind going to hell. haha, he was a bit crazy. we also met a neighbor who invited us into her home that was decorated top to bottom with lights and figurines of polar bears, anglels, and maltese dogs. she's become a new investigator and i'm sure the sisters will have a delightful time teaching her. her fanatic of dogs made me think of the many animals i will be associated with in a few weeks time. weird!!!

Irene, Blessing, and Fortune are doing so great. they are quite prepared for baptism, which will be happening this Sunday. i already know it will be an emotional one. their family is so special and i am so grateful i have been able to teach them and experience their conversion. Irene is struggling to give up tea, but knows it is necessary and is willing to do what she can to quit. her faith in Christ is so strong. i asked her this week where it comes from, and she told me that it was her mother that made the biggest impact in matters of her spirituality. it has become more and more clear to me that the way we were raised matters greatly. even though people can change their ways and establish a foundation in later years, it is so vitally important to become affiliated with God at a young age. parents have a duty to teach and set an example and i am so grateful for my parents who did just that. mom, you must have been inspired to send me the very large BOM FOR FAMILIES. when i got it, i thought, ''well shoot. now we have to find a family to baptize!!!'' haha it was our source of motivation for a while there. and the revelation you must have received to send the large volume will be fulfilled shorty!!!

Valentina is Valentina. she says she 'respects all religions' yet she wants to know 'the true one'. she says she believes in the Catholic church, yet she comes to ours. she says she doesn't want to be baptized, yet she expresses her joy when she sees a baptism. she really needs to gain a testimony and i believe she will, it will just take time. she is going to the temple in November so we have high hopes she will be baptized before then....Erin is Erin. too scared to tell us her thoughts! she is so sweet and intelligent. the gospel will be good for her in her teenage years. we hope it will bring her mom back to church as well. she will be getting baptized in a month or so. eek all these people getting baptized after i leave! i wish i could be there for their special day.

its hard to express my gratitude really for how this service has blessed my life and the lives of others. God lives, he listens, and he cares. Jesus is the Christ, and the power of the Atonement is real. We live in the greatest dispensation of times where we have full access to the gospel through the scriptures, through the prophets, through technology, and most importantly through personal revelation. my mission has been a healing time for me. a lesson i have learned which i wish to expand on is the need to make an active effort to be closer to Jesus Christ. we need to seek for answers. we need to seek for improvement. we need to seek for comfort and for peace.
Joseph Smith was our exemplar in this regard... -

he was the master asker. his inquiries triggered the First vision, the word of wisdom, the knowledge about temple covenants, the order of the church, and in truth almost every other notable revelation in this dispensation. this is because he righteously asked and sought for truth. he sought for improvement. and what he got was comfort and peace through the knowledge of the gospel. another example is Nephi, as he sought for greater things.  in 1 Nephi 15: 11 it says, ''if ye will not harden your hearts, and ask me in faith... with diligence in keeping my commandments, surely these things shall be made known unto you. '' there are countless more scriptures that promise us the blessings of asking. i hope you can all make an active effort in your live to come closer to Jesus Christ

a whole lot has been made known unto me these past 18 months. i hope you have been able to feel a small part of the joy that i have felt as you have journeyed with me.

my last regards from the blessed isles of the sea - the green land of Eire -
